  PREMIER INSTITUTION OF PAPUA NEW GUINEA (PNG) Premier Institiution of Papua New Guinea (PNG). Many of those Papua New Guineans who held key positions in PNG in the 70's, 80's and probably 90's were graduates of this University and Unitech in Lae. This will change when graduates from other Universities take up key positions in the working sector. The Institiution like all others in the country needs a lot of government support in terms of financial assistance so that they can carry out their academic programmes and also do maintainenace work on their buildings. However very little support has been given by the government so far and as such it has placed the instituition in a very difficult position to run and maintain their academic programmes. The government instead is interested in ground breaking ceremonies for new Universites.

  The university has terrible toilet facilities and betelnut stains pretty much every where. Although, the greenery is beautiful.
